Innate feelings inhabit a solitary place. They are ever adrift, reclusive, reticent in the face of living realities.
We relegate them to faraway, dispassionate places of comprehension, as we do to our childhood, youth or nebulous ideals.
Or else we may choose to pursue reassuring muses, and continue seeking elusive rewards for our love’s labours.
This offering is a maiden collection of free verse poems and some holistic renderings, mind-sketched in Hindi, my mother tongue.
It resembles a travelogue with reminisces that traverse milestones that are personal, on a journey that might be common to many.
It recollects impressions, impaled moments, compelled desires, flashes of longing and haunting bonds that sometimes taunt.
It is a lifescape spanning memories, intuiting deep-etched mysteries and their improvisations, in tune with feelings of other worldliness created by music, ethereal visions of artists, or simply in the swell of overwhelming emotions and the surge of passions.
Its poesy veils shyness, veneers undercurrents, or at times euphemises the unsayable. It is an invitation to glimpse in, an encouragement to unravel imagery.
Its interspersed sketches, snippets of other verse and quotes try to enhance, as well as nudge insight, into perhaps larger, more intense meanings than even conceived by the poems.
Like a quest that scans a deep, dark horizon. Or the night spell of hide-and-seek silhouettes tracing a yearn.
To touch the skin of the moon.
